Cameron Smith won the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, the final Men’s Major Championship of 2022. Smith used a run of five birdies in a row on the back nine on Sunday to erase a four-shot deficit heading into the final round to win his first Major Championship title.
The 28-year-old Smith bounced back from a third-round 73, closing with a 64, the lowest final round by a Champion in the 30 times the Championship has been contested at the Old Course.
The Australian won by a stroke over American Cameron Young. Two-Time PGA Champion Rory McIlroy, who shared the lead with Viktor Hovland heading into the final round,, finished third.

Smith took to social media to reflect on his Major Victory …

Earlier in 2022, Smith finished in a tie for third at the Masters and a tie for 13th at the PGA Championship, before missing the cut at the U.S. Open in June.
This was Smith’s third victory of 2022, following wins at the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua Resort on Maui, Hawaii in January and the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in March.

Smith has secured a spot in the 2023 PGA Championship next May at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.
