Three of the four major champions in 2019 will tee it up together in the opening rounds of the 2020 PGA Championship. Brooks Koepka, who is chasing his third consecutive PGA Championship, will play the first and second rounds alongside 2019 U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland and 2019 Open Champion Shane Lowry. Koepka is making his eighth appearance at the PGA Championship and arrives in San Francisco on form following a T2 finish last week in Memphis. Woodland, who picked up his first major title in 2019, will look to add the Wanamaker Trophy to his case. He’s come close in recent years with top 10 finishes in 2018 and ’19. Lowry is making his ninth PGA Championship appearance this week, where he finished T8 in 2019 for his best finish. He’s coming off a T6 last week in Memphis where he recorded his first top 10 of the year.
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas

Three PGA Champions will play together in the opening rounds of the PGA Championship with Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas combining for seven PGA Championship victories. Thomas, who ascended to No. 1 in the Official World Golf ranking with his victory on Sunday, is looking to ride that momentum to a second major title. He won the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club. Woods' tee time on Thursday is at 8:33 a.m. PT. He begins his quest for a coveted 16th major title when he makes his 21st PGA Championship appearance on Thursday. Woods is coming off a T40 in his last start at the Memorial Tournament. McIlroy, a two-time PGA Champion, is making his 12th PGA Championship appearance and will look to regain the form he had ahead of the PGA Tour’s hiatus due to COVID-19. Before the break, McIlroy was unstoppable with a victory and five more top 10s since the start of the year, but he’s yet to crack the top 10 since the Tour’s return.
Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau, Adam Scott

Rickie Fowler joins Bryson DeChambeau and Adam Scott for Thursday and Friday’s rounds. Fowler, who in search of his first major title, is making his 11th PGA Championship appearance. His best finish came in 2014 when he finished T3 behind champion Rory McIlroy. Like Fowler, DeChambeau is also in the hunt for his first major title. He’s making his fourth PGA Championship appearance but looking to record his first top 10 in the major. DeChambeau is coming off a T30 finish last week in Memphis. This week, Scott is making his first start since the Tour’s return following the COVID-19 hiatus. Scott has six top 10s in his previous PGA Championship appearances, most recently in 2018 and ’19.
Jon Rahm, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia

Jon Rahm makes his fourth PGA Championship appearance this week as he looks to capture his first major title. Rahm, who ascended to No. 1 following his victory at the Memorial Tournament in July but was unseated by Thomas on Sunday, recorded his best PGA Championship finish in 2018 when he finished T4. During the opening rounds, he will play alongside Phil Mickelson and fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia. Mickelson is making his 28th PGA Championship appearance. The 2005 PGA Champion is coming off his best finish of the season after a runner-up finish last week in Memphis. Garcia is making his 22nd PGA Championship appearance where he’s looking to play the weekend for the first time since 2015.
