Keegan Bradley over Tom Kim (-102)
Bradley won the PGA Championship in 2011 at age 25. The native New Englander is back close to home. The tour veteran has five career wins and three have come on bentgrass. He thrives on long damp courses with classic layouts. In 2018, Bradley won the BMW Championship on a Donald Ross design. Kim has two wins on the PGA TOUR in less than a year. Since then, he has struggled with the putter and has only one top-15 finish this year.
Jon Rahm over Scottie Scheffler (-102)
The two favorites seem evenly matched. Scheffler is first in the field tee-to-green and second off-the-tee. Unfortunately, tee-to-green doesn’t cover the putter. In his last 10 starts, he has gained zero strokes on average against the field with his flatstick. In that same period, Rahm has four wins and two more top 5s. His career year comes from a careful balance of approach, off-the-tee and scoring. Look for these trends to continue on another difficult design.

Matt Fitzpatrick over Cam Smith (-142)
Fitzpatrick’s U.S. Open winning skill set is better suited to a parkland-style scorecard like Oak Hill. Even though both are incredible short game artists, Smith’s inaccuracy off the tee will cost him over the entire tournament. Some of that driver inconsistency also seems to have leaked into the long irons as well. Fitzpatrick, on the other hand, has made his off-the-tee play a personal strength and won just two starts ago at the RBC Heritage.
