The PGA of America has named Ryan Ogle as Championship Director of the 2024 PGA Championship, which will be played May 13-19 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
Ogle spent the last seven years as a Championship Director for the PGA of America, most recently with the 2021 PGA Championship at The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Prior to that, he directed three KitchenAid Senior PGA Championships at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
"We’re excited to pair Ryan and his wide-range of Championship experiences with Valhalla, its membership and the Louisville community,” said Kerry Haigh, Chief Championships Officer of the PGA of America. "He is a terrific leader and his ability to connect with local and regional stakeholders will allow us to deliver yet another memorable Major Championship at Valhalla in 2024.”
A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Ogle began his career in golf at the 2012 Ryder Cup and managed Volunteer Operations for the 2014 and ‘15 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championships.
“My wife (Rachael) and I could not be more excited to get out and about in Louisville in the coming years,” said Ogle, a graduate of Oklahoma State University. “Louisville’s PGA Championship in May 2024 provides a terrific opportunity to spotlight Kentukiana and celebrate Major Championship golf’s place in Kentucky’s storied sporting culture. In the coming months, I look forward to meeting with businesses, communities and volunteers to make this Major Championship the best it can be."
Designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1986, Valhalla has already established itself as one of golf’s memorable stages.
The 106th PGA Championship will be the fourth contested at Valhalla, tying it with Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, for the second-most all-time. The record is held by Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which hosts its fifth PGA Championship in 2022.
Rory McIlroy (2014), Tiger Woods (2000) and Mark Brooks (1996) have hoisted the famed Wanamaker Trophy at Valhalla.
The field for the 2024 PGA Championship will include the top 20 PGA Club Professionals, who will qualify during the 2024 PGA Professional Championship.
